We are seeking an Assistant Project Manager / Project Engineer to support the delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects in Fayetteville, NC. This role is suited to an engineering professional who can combine technical knowledge with strong organisation, communication and problem-solving skills. You will work closely with project managers, clients, contractors, consultants and internal teams to help deliver projects safely, efficiently, on schedule and within budget.

Responsibilities will include assisting with project planning, procurement, scheduling, budgeting and cost tracking; reviewing plans, specifications, submittals and technical documents; coordinating design and construction activities; preparing progress reports, meeting minutes, change orders and payment applications; and monitoring project performance against approved requirements. You will support field activities, attend site visits and construction meetings, help identify and resolve technical or contractual issues, and maintain accurate project records. The role may also involve reviewing contractor progress, assessing quality and compliance, supporting commissioning and closeout, and communicating project updates to stakeholders.

Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree in civil, environmental or related engineering, construction management, or a comparable discipline. Experience supporting water, wastewater, utility, treatment plant or public infrastructure projects is preferred, along with familiarity with construction administration, contract documents, project scheduling and cost control. An Engineer-in-Training certification, progress toward professional registration, or relevant industry credentials would be advantageous. Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities are essential. Candidates should be comfortable using Microsoft Office and project management or scheduling software, and able to travel to project sites as required. A valid driving licence and the ability to work collaboratively in both office and field environments are also expected.
