Overview
Our client who is a specialist electrical engineering consultancy, focused on data centres and high-voltage infrastructure projects, is looking for an experienced HSE Site Manager.
We are seeking an experienced HSE Site Manager to lead all health, safety, and environmental activities on complex substation construction sites. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements while driving a proactive safety culture across all project stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement project-specific HSE plans, procedures, and risk assessments
- Lead site safety performance and promote a strong safety-first culture across all personnel
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify hazards and ensure compliance
- Ensure adherence to local regulations, client standards, and international HSE requirements
- Manage incident reporting, investigations, and root cause analysis with corrective actions
- Deliver HSE inductions, toolbox talks, and ongoing safety training to site teams and subcontractors
- Coordinate emergency response planning, drills, and first-response preparedness
- Monitor subcontractor HSE performance and enforce compliance with project safety standards
- Maintain accurate HSE documentation including reports, permits, and inspection records
- Interface with client representatives, regulatory bodies, and stakeholders on all HSE matters.
Required Qualifications and Competencies:
- Proven experience as an HSE Site Manager on EPC, substation, or power infrastructure projects
- Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations within Europe
- Experience working in high-risk environments including HV substations or industrial construction
- Relevant certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent HSE qualifications
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence site teams
- Experience conducting risk assessments, audits, and incident investigations
- Ability to manage multiple contractors and interfaces on complex construction sites
- Strong reporting, documentation, and organisational skills
Experience working in Norway or similar regulated markets is highly advantageous
