EWI is supporting a leading international wind energy OEM in the search for an experienced SCADA & Power Plant Controls Engineer to support the deployment, commissioning and ongoing optimisation of utility-scale wind farm SCADA and control systems across North America.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer with a strong background in SCADA, industrial automation, networking and power plant controls who enjoys working on complex renewable energy projects from commissioning through to operational support.

The Role

As a SCADA & Power Plant Controls Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering SCADA and plant control solutions for utility-scale wind farms. Working closely with engineering, project management, cybersecurity, networking and field teams, you will ensure projects are successfully commissioned and handed over to customers.

Your responsibilities will include:

Configure, test and commission SCADA systems for utility-scale wind farms
Integrate wind turbine SCADA systems with Power Plant Controllers (PPC), RTUs and grid interfaces
Commission and test PPC functionality, including voltage, frequency and power control loops
Configure and troubleshoot industrial communication protocols including Modbus, DNP3, IEC 61850 and OPC UA
Diagnose and resolve SCADA communication and control issues
Provide remote and on-site technical support throughout project execution
Support software configuration, hardware deployment and customer-specific system profiles
Produce functional design specifications and technical documentation
Act as the technical lead for SCADA activities during construction and commissioning
Work closely with project managers, networking teams, cybersecurity specialists and customer stakeholders
Support knowledge sharing, quality improvements and continuous process development
Requirements

Were looking for engineers with 6+ years of experience in one or more of the following:

Wind farm SCADA systems
Industrial automation
Electrical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering
Power Plant Controls (PPC)
Industrial communication protocols
PLC / RTU technologies
Industrial control systems
Renewable energy commissioning

Experience with the following is highly desirable:

Modbus
DNP3
IEC 61850
IEC 60870
IEC 61400-25
OPC UA
RsLogix / PLC programming
Industrial networking
Cisco networking equipment
VPN, WAN and IP networking
Fibre optic communications
Cybersecurity principles
JIRA, SAP or other CMMS platforms
Project engineering or technical project leadership
