Water Resources Engineer

We are seeking a Water Resources Engineer to support the planning, design, assessment and delivery of projects involving water management, drainage, flood risk and hydraulic infrastructure. Key responsibilities will include preparing and reviewing hydrological and hydraulic assessments; developing flood studies, drainage strategies and water management plans; undertaking catchment and stormwater analysis; and supporting the design of culverts, channels, detention systems, pipelines and other water-related infrastructure. You will use appropriate modelling tools and technical methods to assess risks, test design solutions and interpret results. The role will also involve preparing technical reports, drawings, specifications, calculations and approval documentation, as well as contributing to project budgets, programmes and quality assurance processes.

You will work closely with engineers, planners, environmental specialists, contractors, clients and regulatory stakeholders to coordinate project requirements and communicate technical information clearly. The successful candidate will have a degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, water resources engineering or a related discipline, together with relevant professional experience in hydrology, hydraulics, stormwater, flood risk or drainage design. Familiarity with industry standards, modelling software and applicable planning or environmental regulations is desirable. Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with sound judgement, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities. Professional registration or progress toward registration will be advantageous.
