Project Manager - Water/Wastewater
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects from initial planning through to completion. This role will oversee projects involving treatment facilities, pumping stations, pipelines, reservoirs, drainage systems and associated civil, mechanical and electrical works. You will be responsible for establishing delivery strategies, managing project programmes and budgets, coordinating resources, and ensuring that all work is completed safely, efficiently and to the required technical and quality standards.
Key responsibilities will include managing project scope, design development, procurement, construction and commissioning activities; preparing and monitoring schedules, cost plans, forecasts and progress reports; and identifying and controlling commercial, technical, environmental and programme risks. You will lead project teams and coordinate clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers, statutory bodies and other stakeholders, maintaining clear communication throughout the project lifecycle. The role will also involve reviewing contract requirements, managing variations and change control, supporting commercial negotiations, resolving issues, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, industry standards, health and safety requirements and environmental obligations. You will promote a collaborative project culture and drive continuous improvement in delivery performance.
Applicants should have proven project management experience within the water, wastewater, utilities, construction or civil engineering sectors, with a strong understanding of infrastructure delivery and contract administration. A relevant degree or professional qualification in engineering, construction, project management or a related discipline is desirable. You will need strong financial, organisational and leadership skills, together with the ability to manage competing priorities and make effective decisions in a complex delivery environment. Experience with recognised project management methodologies and standard forms of contract will be advantageous. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, as is a proactive approach to problem-solving, stakeholder management and risk mitigation. A commitment to safe working practices, quality delivery and customer-focused outcomes is expected.
