We are seeking a Structures Estimator II to support the preparation of accurate, competitive estimates for structural construction projects in Blacksburg, South Carolina. This role will review project plans, specifications, bid documents, and contract requirements to determine the labour, materials, equipment, subcontractor, and logistical costs required to complete each project. The successful candidate will help develop detailed proposals and contribute to reliable project budgets from initial opportunity through bid submission.
Key responsibilities include performing quantity take-offs, analysing drawings and specifications, preparing pricing worksheets, obtaining and evaluating supplier and subcontractor quotations, and identifying potential risks, exclusions, and scope gaps. You will collaborate with project managers, engineers, procurement teams, and operations personnel to clarify requirements and ensure estimates reflect current construction methods and market conditions. The role will also involve maintaining estimating records, updating cost databases, supporting value-engineering reviews, and participating in post-bid analysis to improve future estimates. Occasional site visits, pre-bid meetings, and travel may be required.
Applicants should have several years of experience in construction estimating, preferably with structural, industrial, commercial, or civil projects. A strong understanding of construction plans, structural materials, sequencing, productivity, and cost control is essential. Proficiency with estimating software, spreadsheets, and digital take-off tools is expected, along with the ability to interpret technical documentation and manage multiple deadlines. An associate or bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or a related discipline is preferred, though equivalent practical experience will be considered. Strong analytical, communication, organisational, and negotiation skills are required, as well as a detail-oriented approach and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
