Electrical Technician HV - Solar O&M

Location: Villarino de los Aires, around 40 minutes from Salamanca

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Technician HV to support the operation and maintenance of a solar PV plant and 220/132 kV substation/switchyard in Spain. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting commissioning, plant stabilisation, preventive and corrective maintenance, fault analysis, SCADA monitoring, and safe day-to-day site operations.

Responsibilities

  • Support pre-commissioning, commissioning, HOTO, post-commissioning and plant stabilisation activities.
  • Carry out preventive and breakdown maintenance on the 220/132 kV substation/switchyard and PV plant.
  • Monitor plant and substation performance through SCADA/SAS systems.
  • Support the operation and maintenance of power transformers, GIS/AIS substations, inverters, RMUs, battery chargers and UPS systems.
  • Identify faults, take corrective actions, check relay coordination, download fault logs and support root cause analysis.
  • Prepare daily logbooks and maintain records of breakdowns, RCA, preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • Update maintenance records in the company or owner-provided CMMS platform.
  • Support safe and timely completion of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities.
  • Follow control centre and Grid Operator instructions in coordination with the Lead Electrical Technician.
  • Maintain records of spare parts used and report requirements to the relevant teams.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE requirements and support safe site operations.

Requirements

  • Diploma, Technician Certificate or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering.
  • 3-5 years' experience in the electrical field, substation or switchyard operations and maintenance.
  • Minimum 1 year of solar plant operation and maintenance experience.
  • Knowledge of 220/132 kV substations, switchyards, PV plants and electrical equipment.
  • Experience with SCADA/SAS systems, fault logs, relay coordination and CMMS platforms.
  • Computer literate.
  • Proficient in the local language, both spoken and written.
  • Moderate proficiency in English.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, decision-making and accountability skills.
