Field Engineer (Entry-level) – Water Infrastructure
Field Engineer (Entry-level) – Water Infrastructure
An exciting opportunity is available for an entry-level Field Engineer to join a growing water infrastructure team. This role would suit a recent graduate or early-career professional with a degree or equivalent qualification in civil engineering, water engineering, construction, or a related discipline, who is keen to develop practical experience on essential infrastructure projects.
Working under the guidance of experienced engineers and project managers, you will support the delivery, inspection and maintenance of water and wastewater assets. You will spend time on active sites, gaining exposure to construction activities, utility networks, site investigations and project documentation while helping to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and to the required standards.
Key responsibilities
- Assist with the supervision and coordination of site-based works, including pipelines, pumping stations, treatment facilities and associated infrastructure.
- Carry out site inspections, surveys and basic technical assessments, recording findings accurately.
- Review drawings, specifications, risk assessments and method statements, raising issues where appropriate.
- Monitor progress, quality and compliance against agreed programmes and project requirements.
- Support the preparation of reports, site records, measurements and handover documentation.
- Work collaboratively with contractors, subcontractors, colleagues and stakeholders to resolve routine technical and operational matters.
- Follow all health, safety, environmental and quality procedures, promoting a positive safety culture on site.
About you
You will be organised, practical and enthusiastic about building a career in water infrastructure. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team are essential. You should be comfortable working outdoors and travelling to different project locations, sometimes with early starts or occasional overnight stays.
Applicants should have a relevant engineering qualification, a willingness to learn and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Familiarity with Microsoft Office, technical drawings or construction environments would be advantageous. A full UK driving licence is desirable, and appropriate training and professional development support will be provided.
What is offered
You will receive structured mentoring, hands-on experience and opportunities to work towards relevant professional development goals while contributing to projects that support resilient and sustainable water services.
