Engineer in Training, Water Infrastructure
We are seeking an Engineer in Training, Water Infrastructure, to support the planning, design and delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer to develop practical experience across the full project lifecycle, working alongside experienced engineers, project managers, clients and contractors. You will contribute to projects involving water supply networks, sewerage systems, pumping stations, treatment facilities, drainage and associated civil infrastructure.
Your responsibilities will include assisting with feasibility studies, site investigations, calculations, technical reports, drawings, specifications and cost estimates. You will help prepare design solutions that meet relevant standards, legislation, environmental requirements and client needs, while considering safety, sustainability, constructability and whole-life cost. The role will also involve reviewing technical information, supporting procurement and tender activities, attending site visits and inspections, monitoring construction progress, and contributing to the resolution of technical issues. You may be required to liaise with contractors, suppliers, regulatory bodies and other project stakeholders, maintaining clear records and communicating information effectively.
Applicants should hold, or be working towards, a degree or equivalent qualification in civil engineering, water engineering, environmental engineering or a related discipline. A developing understanding of water and wastewater infrastructure, hydraulic principles, civil design and relevant technical standards would be advantageous. You should be comfortable using Microsoft Office and willing to learn industry-standard design, modelling and project management software. We are looking for someone who is analytical, organised and committed to delivering high-quality work, with strong written and verbal communication skills. The ability to work collaboratively, manage competing priorities and demonstrate initiative is essential. A willingness to undertake professional development and work towards chartership, where appropriate, is encouraged. A full driving licence may be required for travel to project sites.
