Working as part of a collaborative engineering team, you will undertake planned and reactive inspections, investigate faults and support maintenance and improvement projects from initial assessment through to completion. You will liaise with contractors, operational colleagues and stakeholders, ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently and in line with relevant standards, procedures and environmental requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out site inspections, condition surveys and technical assessments of infrastructure assets.
- Identify defects, risks and maintenance requirements, recommending appropriate remedial action.
- Support the planning, supervision and completion of maintenance, renewal and improvement works.
- Review drawings, specifications, risk assessments, permits and method statements.
- Monitor contractor performance, quality, progress and compliance with agreed requirements.
- Maintain accurate records, inspection reports and asset information using digital systems.
- Respond to incidents and urgent engineering issues, helping to minimise disruption and risk.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure all activities comply with applicable legislation.
About you
You will have experience in a field-based engineering, infrastructure, construction or asset management environment, together with a relevant technical qualification or demonstrable equivalent experience. A practical understanding of inspection, maintenance and project delivery is essential. Experience of working with contractors, interpreting technical documentation and using asset management or reporting systems would be advantageous.
You should be organised, proactive and confident communicating with people at all levels. The role requires sound judgement, strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities while working independently. A full driving licence is required, as regular travel to operational sites will be involved. Training, professional development and support towards relevant industry accreditation will be available.
