Role Overview
The Head of Project Engineering will spearhead the design and engineering of Solar + BESS + Diesel/Gas hybrid installations, some of which include MV/LV distribution networks. This pivotal role requires a visionary engineer who can maintain exceptional design standards while ensuring cost-efficiency and quality. You'll be at the forefront of design innovation and team leadership, guiding projects from conceptual design through to commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and develop a high-performing engineering team, fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing.
- Mentor engineers, ensuring skill enhancement in solar, storage, and hybrid systems.
- Oversee design reviews and ensure compliance with industry standards.
Design & Technical Oversight
- Supervise design processes for renewable energy projects, integrating electrical, mechanical, and civil elements.
- Ensure compliance with technical, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Optimize designs for performance, cost-efficiency, and ease of maintenance.
Quality Assurance & Process Improvement
- Develop processes to enhance design accuracy and reduce rework.
- Implement quality control systems to manage risks effectively.
- Drive continuous improvements in design methodologies.
Project Lifecycle Management
- Manage designs from concept to construction, aligning with project goals.
- Collaborate with project managers and contractors to ensure seamless execution.
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.
Stakeholder Management
- Work with internal teams to align designs with business and client needs.
- Maintain relationships with external consultants and contractors.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in renewable energy.
- Champion design innovations to improve project efficiency and performance.
Qualifications & Competencies
Education
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering, with a strong background in renewable energy.
Experience
- 10+ years in renewable energy system design, including 5+ years with Solar + BESS + Diesel/Gas hybrids.
- Proven leadership in engineering teams and project design management.
- Experience in C&I and mini-grid sectors, handling projects from 500 kWp to 10 MWp.
Skills
- Expertise in hybrid energy system design and MV/LV distribution networks.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, PVSyst, Helioscope, and other design tools.
- Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
Salary: 54,000 to 65,000 USD Per Annum (Gross)
