Assistant Project Manager - Construction (Multifamily)
We are seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support the successful delivery of multifamily construction projects from preconstruction through completion. This role will work closely with the Project Manager, architects, consultants, trade partners, and site teams to coordinate activities, maintain project documentation, and help ensure work is delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
Key responsibilities include assisting with project planning, scheduling, budgeting, procurement, and contract administration; reviewing drawings, specifications, submittals, requests for information, and change orders; and tracking project costs, commitments, forecasts, and progress reports. You will help coordinate subcontractors and suppliers, attend project and coordination meetings, distribute meeting minutes, monitor action items, and support the resolution of design, material, and construction issues. The role will also involve conducting site walks, documenting progress, supporting quality control and safety initiatives, reviewing completed work, and assisting with inspections, punch lists, closeout documentation, and handover activities. Maintaining accurate records and communicating effectively with all project stakeholders will be essential.
Applicants should have experience supporting commercial or residential construction projects, ideally within multifamily development, and a solid understanding of construction processes, building systems, project controls, and contract documents. A degree, diploma, or equivalent practical experience in construction management, engineering, architecture, or a related discipline is preferred. Familiarity with construction management and scheduling software, document control systems, Microsoft Office, and project cost tracking tools is advantageous. The successful candidate will be organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication, problem-solving, collaboration, and time-management skills are required, along with the ability to work both independently and effectively as part of a project team.
