Assistant Superintendent - Construction (Multifamily)
We are seeking an Assistant Superintendent – Construction to support the successful delivery of multifamily residential projects from mobilization through completion. Working under the direction of the Superintendent and Project Manager, you will help coordinate daily site activities, maintain a safe and organized work environment, and ensure construction progresses in accordance with approved plans, specifications, schedules, and quality standards. This position is well suited to a detail-oriented construction professional who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and collaborating with multiple project stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include assisting with daily supervision of subcontractors and field personnel; reviewing drawings, specifications, and scopes of work; coordinating inspections, deliveries, and site logistics; monitoring progress against the project schedule; and identifying potential delays, conflicts, or quality concerns. You will participate in site walks, document field conditions, track materials and equipment, and support the resolution of requests for information, change orders, and punch-list items. Maintaining accurate daily reports, enforcing site safety procedures, and helping ensure compliance with applicable building codes and regulations will also be essential. The role requires regular communication with subcontractors, consultants, vendors, inspectors, and internal project teams.
Candidates should have experience in commercial or multifamily construction, preferably with exposure to ground-up or large-scale residential projects. A working knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, plans, specifications, scheduling, and safety requirements is required. The ability to read and interpret construction documents, use standard construction management software, and communicate clearly both verbally and in writing is important. Strong organizational skills, sound judgment, accountability, and the ability to prioritize changing demands are essential. An associate or bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field is preferred, along with relevant field experience. OSHA training or other industry certifications are advantageous. Regular travel or extended time on active construction sites may be required.
