Senior Environmental Planner

We are seeking an experienced Senior Environmental Planner to lead and deliver high-quality environmental planning advice across a diverse portfolio of development and infrastructure projects. This role will involve managing projects from early feasibility and scoping through to approvals, implementation and post-approval monitoring. You will provide strategic guidance on environmental risks, planning pathways and regulatory requirements, while helping project teams achieve sustainable, practical and compliant outcomes.

Key responsibilities include preparing and reviewing environmental assessments, planning reports, impact statements, management plans and approval documentation; coordinating technical studies and specialist consultants; interpreting environmental legislation, policies and planning instruments; and engaging with government agencies, community representatives, landowners and other stakeholders. You will identify potential environmental impacts, develop mitigation and management strategies, monitor project conditions and provide clear recommendations to clients and internal teams. The role will also involve contributing to business development, preparing proposals, mentoring junior staff and supporting continuous improvement in environmental planning processes.

To be successful, you will have substantial experience in environmental planning, impact assessment, development approvals or a related discipline, together with relevant tertiary qualifications in environmental science, planning, natural resource management or a comparable field. Strong knowledge of applicable environmental legislation, assessment frameworks and approval processes is essential. You will bring excellent analytical, report-writing and project management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and communicate complex information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. Experience leading multidisciplinary teams, managing consultants and engaging effectively with regulators and stakeholders will be highly regarded. A proactive, collaborative approach and a commitment to professional integrity, environmental stewardship and high-quality service are essential.
