The successful candidate will provide professional environmental planning advice from project inception through to consent and delivery. You will work with planners, engineers, ecologists, consultants, local authorities and other stakeholders to identify environmental opportunities, manage constraints and ensure projects meet relevant legislative and policy requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare, coordinate and review environmental assessments, planning documents, technical reports and supporting information.
- Advise project teams on environmental risks, planning policy, consenting strategies and mitigation measures.
- Support the preparation and submission of planning applications, environmental statements and related consent documentation.
- Undertake research into planning policy, environmental legislation and emerging sustainability standards.
- Coordinate consultations with statutory bodies, local authorities, communities and other interested parties.

- Promote best practice in sustainability, biodiversity, climate resilience and environmental management.
About you
You will have a relevant degree or professional qualification in environmental planning, environmental management, geography, town planning or a related discipline. Previous experience in environmental assessment, development planning, infrastructure consenting or a similar role is essential. Membership of a relevant professional body, or progress towards membership, would be advantageous.
You should have a sound understanding of UK planning and environmental legislation, together with the ability to interpret technical information and communicate it clearly to varied audiences. Strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent organisation and the confidence to manage competing priorities are important. Experience of working collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams and engaging with external stakeholders will also be valued.
In return, you will have the opportunity to develop your expertise while working on challenging projects with visible environmental and community outcomes. Flexible working arrangements and ongoing professional development support are available.
