NC Biosolids Project Lead

We are seeking an experienced Biosolids Project Lead to manage the planning, delivery and continuous improvement of biosolids and residuals management projects. This role will provide technical and operational leadership across projects involving biosolids processing, treatment, storage, transportation, recycling and beneficial use. You will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, consultants, contractors and operational stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule and within approved budgets.

Key responsibilities will include developing project scopes, programmes, budgets, risk registers and procurement strategies; overseeing feasibility studies, design development, permitting and construction activities; and ensuring compliance with applicable environmental, health and safety, regulatory and quality requirements. You will monitor project performance, manage changes and commercial issues, prepare reports for senior stakeholders, and maintain clear project documentation. The role will also involve evaluating new technologies and end-use opportunities, supporting asset and process improvement initiatives, and building effective relationships with regulators, local communities, suppliers and internal teams.

Applicants should have significant experience leading infrastructure, environmental or wastewater-related projects, with practical knowledge of biosolids management, resource recovery or related treatment processes. A degree or equivalent qualification in engineering, environmental science, project management or a related discipline is desirable, together with relevant professional certification or chartered status. You will need strong commercial, analytical and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to interpret technical information and communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences. Experience managing contractors, budgets, risks and regulatory approvals is essential. A collaborative, organised and proactive approach is required, as is a firm commitment to safe working practices, environmental protection and sustainable outcomes.
