NC Water Business Group Construction Services Business Class Lead
Lead the growth and delivery of construction services within a water-focused business group serving communities and infrastructure clients across North Carolina. This senior role will provide strategic direction, technical leadership, and operational oversight for a portfolio of water, wastewater, utility, and related infrastructure projects. You will help shape business plans, identify market opportunities, strengthen client relationships, and position the business for sustainable growth while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, quality, ethics, and performance.
Responsibilities will include leading project pursuits from opportunity identification through proposal development and contract award; developing and maintaining relationships with public- and private-sector clients, contractors, design partners, and industry stakeholders; and overseeing the successful delivery of construction services, including alternative delivery, construction management, design-build, and traditional project approaches. You will support project teams with constructability reviews, cost and schedule management, risk assessment, procurement strategy, change management, and issue resolution. The role will also involve mentoring staff, coordinating resources across disciplines, monitoring financial performance, and ensuring compliance with contractual, regulatory, environmental, and health and safety requirements.
The successful candidate will bring substantial experience in water or wastewater construction, infrastructure delivery, or a closely related field, together with a strong understanding of project controls, estimating, contracting, and client development. A bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, business, or a related discipline is preferred, along with progressive leadership experience and demonstrated success managing complex projects and multidisciplinary teams. Professional registration, contractor credentials, or relevant industry certifications are advantageous. Strong communication, negotiation, problem-solving, and organizational skills are essential, as is the ability to travel to project sites and collaborate effectively with colleagues, clients, and partners at all levels.
