Environmental Planning Analyst

We are seeking an Environmental Planning Analyst to support the assessment, development and delivery of planning projects that balance environmental protection, community needs and sustainable growth. The role will involve researching environmental policies, legislation and planning frameworks; reviewing development proposals; and preparing clear, evidence-based advice for a range of stakeholders. You will contribute to environmental impact assessments, strategic planning studies, sustainability initiatives and related approval processes.

Key responsibilities include analysing environmental and spatial data, identifying potential risks and opportunities, and preparing technical reports, briefing papers, planning submissions and presentation materials. You will coordinate input from internal teams, consultants, government agencies and community representatives, ensuring that environmental considerations are accurately reflected in project planning and decision-making. The successful candidate will also monitor regulatory changes, maintain accurate project records, assist with consultation activities and support the implementation of mitigation, monitoring and compliance measures. The role may include site inspections, field research and occasional travel to project locations.

Applicants should have a degree or relevant qualification in environmental planning, environmental science, urban and regional planning, geography or a related discipline, together with experience in environmental assessment, statutory or strategic planning, policy analysis, or a comparable field. Strong research, analytical and written communication skills are essential, along with the ability to interpret legislation, technical information and planning instruments. You should be confident using standard office software and, ideally, geographic information systems or other spatial analysis tools. We are looking for an organised and collaborative professional who can manage competing priorities, work independently, engage constructively with diverse stakeholders and apply sound judgement to complex environmental and planning matters.
