An Environmental Planning Analyst is required to support the assessment, development and delivery of projects with potential environmental and planning implications. Working across multidisciplinary teams, you will provide clear, evidence-based advice to help ensure proposals are technically robust, compliant with relevant legislation and aligned with sustainable development principles. The role will involve reviewing planning policies, environmental data and technical reports, identifying potential risks and opportunities, and contributing to practical recommendations for project teams and stakeholders.

Key responsibilities will include undertaking research and analysis relating to planning, environmental constraints, land use, biodiversity, climate resilience and sustainability; preparing high-quality reports, briefing notes, presentations and consultation materials; and assisting with planning applications, environmental assessments and supporting documentation. You will help coordinate input from internal specialists, external consultants, local authorities and other interested parties, ensuring information is accurate, well-structured and delivered to agreed timescales. You may also support site visits, stakeholder meetings, public consultations and the monitoring of planning conditions or environmental commitments.

The successful candidate will have experience in environmental planning, spatial planning, sustainability, environmental assessment or a closely related discipline, together with a relevant degree or equivalent professional experience. You will be confident interpreting legislation, policy and technical information, and be able to communicate complex issues clearly to both specialist and non-specialist audiences. Strong analytical, organisational and report-writing skills are essential, as is proficiency with standard office software; experience using geographic information systems or environmental data platforms would be advantageous. You should be proactive, collaborative and attentive to detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively under deadlines. A commitment to high professional standards, environmental protection and inclusive stakeholder engagement is expected.
