We are seeking an experienced Director – Water to lead and grow a multidisciplinary water practice in Raleigh, North Carolina. This senior leadership role will focus on delivering high-quality solutions for public and private-sector clients across water, wastewater, stormwater, and related infrastructure programs. The successful candidate will combine technical expertise, commercial awareness, and a strong understanding of the regional market to guide strategic growth and long-term client relationships.

Responsibilities will include setting practice strategy, identifying new business opportunities, developing proposals, and maintaining trusted relationships with municipal, utility, industrial, and other infrastructure clients. You will oversee project delivery, financial performance, resourcing, and quality across a portfolio of work, while collaborating with professionals across engineering, planning, environmental, construction, and program management disciplines. The role will also involve mentoring and developing staff, supporting recruitment, fostering a culture of safety and innovation, and representing the practice at industry and community events. You will be expected to provide senior oversight on complex projects and help ensure that services are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with applicable standards and regulations.

Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in civil, environmental, or water resources engineering, or a closely related discipline; a master’s degree is advantageous. Professional Engineer licensure, or the ability to obtain it, is strongly preferred. You should bring significant experience in the water and wastewater sector, including project management, client development, and team leadership, along with a strong understanding of relevant design standards, permitting requirements, and regulatory frameworks. Excellent communication, negotiation, presentation, and business planning skills are essential. A collaborative leadership style, sound commercial judgment, and the ability to balance strategic priorities with practical project delivery will be key to success. The position may require occasional travel throughout the region.
