Superintendent - Water/Wastewater - Raleigh/Durham, NC
We are seeking an experienced Superintendent to lead field operations on water and wastewater construction projects throughout the Raleigh/Durham, NC area. This role is responsible for coordinating daily site activities, maintaining a safe and productive work environment, and ensuring projects are completed in accordance with approved plans, specifications, schedules, and quality standards. The Superintendent will serve as the primary field leader, working closely with project managers, subcontractors, inspectors, engineers, vendors, and clients to deliver successful project outcomes.
Key responsibilities include supervising foremen, craft employees, subcontractors, and site personnel; planning manpower, equipment, materials, and work sequences; reviewing drawings, specifications, and contract requirements; and monitoring progress against project schedules. The successful candidate will conduct pre-task planning and safety meetings, enforce company and regulatory safety procedures, coordinate inspections and testing, identify potential delays or field conflicts, and support the resolution of constructability and quality issues. Accurate documentation of daily reports, production quantities, schedule updates, change conditions, and jobsite activities is also required. Projects may include treatment facilities, pump stations, pipelines, utilities, excavation, concrete, structural, and mechanical installations.
Qualified candidates should have several years of progressive experience supervising heavy civil, utility, water, or wastewater construction projects, with a strong understanding of construction methods, sequencing, site logistics, and safety requirements. Experience reading civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical drawings is essential, along with the ability to use project management, scheduling, and reporting tools. A strong commitment to quality, accountability, and teamwork is required. The ideal candidate communicates effectively, makes sound decisions under pressure, and can manage competing priorities in a fast-paced field environment. OSHA training and certifications such as competent person credentials are preferred. A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel to active project sites are required.
