Range Sustainability and NEPA Support Coordinator
We are seeking a Range Sustainability and NEPA Support Coordinator to provide environmental planning, natural resource management, and administrative support for range and training-area activities. The role will help ensure that proposed actions comply with applicable environmental laws, regulations, policies, and land-use requirements while supporting the long-term sustainability and operational readiness of managed lands. The successful candidate will work with planners, environmental specialists, range personnel, technical experts, and external stakeholders to coordinate clear, accurate, and timely project support.
Key responsibilities include assisting with the preparation, review, and tracking of National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documentation, including environmental assessments, environmental impact analyses, categorical exclusions, records of environmental consideration, and associated technical materials. You will gather and organize environmental data; coordinate consultation and stakeholder input; maintain project files, schedules, and compliance trackers; and help identify potential impacts involving natural resources, cultural resources, threatened and endangered species, wetlands, water quality, noise, air quality, and land use. The position will also support range sustainability initiatives, environmental inspections, mitigation monitoring, sustainability assessments, and the development of reports, briefings, maps, and recommendations.
Applicants should have experience supporting environmental planning, compliance, sustainability, range management, land-use planning, or a closely related field. Knowledge of NEPA requirements and related federal, state, or local environmental regulations is strongly preferred. The role requires excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a collaborative environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and experience using geographic information systems (GIS), environmental databases, or document-management systems is desirable. A degree or equivalent professional experience in environmental science, natural resources, planning, sustainability, or a related discipline may be required. The successful candidate must be capable of working independently, handling sensitive project information appropriately, and occasionally traveling to field locations or participating in site visits.
