Traveling Senior Superintendent - Justice / Corrections
We are seeking an experienced Traveling Senior Superintendent to lead the delivery of complex justice and corrections construction projects across multiple locations. This role is suited to a senior construction professional with a strong background in secure facilities, institutional buildings, healthcare, or similarly complex projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining high standards of safety, quality, schedule performance, and project coordination from mobilisation through completion.
Key responsibilities include providing overall field leadership; supervising general superintendents, superintendents, subcontractors, and trade partners; coordinating daily construction activities; reviewing plans, specifications, and schedules; and ensuring work is completed in accordance with contract requirements and applicable codes. You will collaborate closely with project managers, owners, design consultants, authorities, and site stakeholders to resolve issues and maintain progress. The role will also involve leading site logistics and phasing plans, coordinating inspections and testing, monitoring productivity, managing short-term schedules, documenting progress, supporting commissioning and closeout, and promoting a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Due to the nature of justice and corrections projects, particular attention must be given to site security, controlled access, operational continuity, safety protocols, and coordination within occupied or highly regulated environments.
Applicants should have substantial experience delivering large, complex construction projects, ideally including justice, corrections, detention, courthouse, healthcare, institutional, or other secure facilities. A degree, diploma, or equivalent experience in construction management, engineering, or a related discipline is preferred. Strong knowledge of construction means and methods, building systems, contract documents, scheduling, quality control, and safety regulations is required. Excellent communication, leadership, organisation, and problem-solving skills are essential, along with the ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment. This is a traveling position requiring flexibility to work on projects in different regions, stay away from home as needed, and travel regularly. A valid driving licence and the ability to pass applicable security, background, and site-access requirements are also required.
