Traveling Superintendent 3 - Healthcare Construction
We are seeking an experienced Travelling Superintendent to oversee the delivery of complex healthcare construction projects across multiple locations. This role will be responsible for managing site operations from mobilisation through to completion, ensuring that work is delivered safely, efficiently, on programme and to the required quality standards. Projects may include hospitals, clinics, laboratories and other technically demanding healthcare environments, often requiring careful coordination around live facilities and occupied areas.
Key responsibilities will include leading site teams, subcontractors and specialist trades; reviewing drawings, specifications and construction programmes; coordinating daily activities and resolving technical or sequencing issues; monitoring progress against milestones; and maintaining accurate site records, reports and documentation. You will work closely with project managers, consultants, clients and supply-chain partners to manage logistics, procurement, inspections, commissioning and handover. You will also be expected to enforce health and safety procedures, environmental requirements and quality-control processes, while ensuring compliance with relevant construction legislation and healthcare standards. Regular travel and extended stays away from home will be required, depending on project location.
Applicants should have substantial experience supervising major construction projects, with a strong background in healthcare or similarly complex, highly regulated environments. A thorough understanding of construction methods, building services coordination, commissioning and construction programmes is essential, along with the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications. You will need proven leadership skills, commercial awareness, strong organisational ability and excellent communication skills. The successful candidate will be confident making decisions under pressure, proactive in identifying risks and capable of building effective relationships at every level. A recognised construction qualification, site-management certification and current health and safety training are desirable. The role may suit a Senior Site Manager or Superintendent ready to take responsibility for high-value projects across a wider geographical area.
