Water Resource Project Engineer (EIT)
Water Resource Project Engineer (EIT)
An exciting opportunity is available for an early-career Water Resource Project Engineer (EIT) to support the planning, design and delivery of water infrastructure and resource management projects. Working alongside experienced engineers, scientists and project managers, you will contribute to technically challenging projects that support resilient, sustainable and compliant water systems.
You will assist with hydraulic and hydrologic assessments, water balance studies, flood risk evaluations, drainage investigations and the development of water management strategies. The role will involve applying engineering principles to prepare practical solutions, interpreting technical data and contributing to projects from initial feasibility through to detailed design and construction support.
Key responsibilities
- Undertake engineering calculations, modelling and analysis relating to water resources, drainage, flood risk and infrastructure performance.
- Prepare technical reports, design documentation, drawings, specifications and supporting calculations.
- Assist with site inspections, surveys, field investigations and the interpretation of monitoring data.
- Support project planning, programming, cost estimates, risk assessments and quality assurance activities.
- Coordinate with internal disciplines, clients, contractors, regulators and other project stakeholders.
- Contribute to environmental assessments, permitting and compliance with relevant standards and legislation.
- Maintain accurate project records and promote safe, efficient and sustainable working practices.
About you
You will hold a degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, water resources engineering or a related discipline, and be working towards professional registration or an equivalent engineering accreditation. Previous experience in water, drainage, flood risk or civil infrastructure projects is desirable, although motivated graduates and those with relevant placement experience are encouraged to apply.
You should have strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills, sound attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities. Familiarity with hydraulic or hydrologic modelling software, CAD, GIS and Microsoft Office applications would be advantageous. A willingness to travel to project and site locations, together with a commitment to professional development, is required.
