Civil Engineer - Water Resource - Engineer in Training (Project Engineer Preferred)

We are seeking a Civil Engineer – Water Resources to support the planning, design, and delivery of infrastructure and environmental projects. This role is suited to an Engineer in Training (EIT) with a strong interest in water resources, drainage, flood management, and civil infrastructure. The successful candidate will contribute to projects from concept through to construction, working alongside experienced engineers, technical specialists, clients, and contractors. Candidates with prior project engineering experience are particularly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities will include preparing technical reports, calculations, drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and design documentation for water resource and civil engineering projects. You will assist with stormwater management, flood studies, drainage design, waterway assessments, erosion and sediment control, hydraulic and hydrologic modelling, and the development of practical, sustainable design solutions. The role will also involve site inspections, data collection, construction support, reviewing contractor submissions, monitoring project progress, and helping ensure that work is delivered safely, accurately, and in accordance with relevant standards and approvals.

Applicants should hold a degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline and have, or be working toward, professional registration or equivalent accreditation. Experience with water resources, hydrology, hydraulics, drainage, civil design, or related infrastructure projects is desirable. Familiarity with industry software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, 12d, GIS, HEC-RAS, TUFLOW, or comparable modelling and design tools will be advantageous. Strong written and verbal communication skills, sound analytical ability, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn are essential. The ideal candidate will be organised, collaborative, safety-conscious, and capable of managing competing priorities while developing effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders. A current driver’s licence and the ability to travel to project and construction sites may be required.
