Senior Integrated Water Resource Planner / Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Integrated Water Resource Planner / Engineer to lead the development of sustainable, resilient and evidence-based water resource solutions. This role will support strategic planning across complex water systems, balancing environmental, social, regulatory and economic considerations. You will work across multidisciplinary teams to assess current and future water needs, identify risks and opportunities, and develop practical plans that strengthen water security and environmental outcomes.

Key responsibilities will include leading integrated water resource planning studies; developing and reviewing water balances, demand forecasts, supply assessments and scenario models; evaluating climate change impacts, drought resilience and adaptation options; and preparing technical reports, business cases, strategies and investment recommendations. You will provide technical guidance on water infrastructure, catchment management, groundwater and surface-water interactions, demand management, reuse and nature-based solutions. The role will also involve interpreting legislation, policies, standards and regulatory requirements, managing technical inputs from consultants, and ensuring that project outcomes are robust, transparent and fit for purpose.

You will build effective relationships with government agencies, regulators, Traditional Owners, community representatives, industry, environmental groups and internal stakeholders. Strong communication skills are essential, including the ability to explain complex technical issues clearly to both specialist and non-specialist audiences and to facilitate workshops or stakeholder consultations. Applicants should hold a relevant degree in water resources engineering, civil or environmental engineering, hydrology, environmental science, planning or a related discipline, together with substantial experience in integrated water planning or a comparable field. Professional registration or membership of a relevant professional body is desirable. You will bring sound judgement, strong analytical and project management skills, experience with water resource modelling or decision-support tools, and a demonstrated commitment to sustainable water management, collaboration and continuous improvement.
