Engineer I – Water Resources
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Engineer I to join a collaborative water resources team. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career professional to develop practical experience across a range of water, drainage and environmental engineering projects while working alongside experienced technical specialists.
You will support the planning, design and delivery of projects involving surface water management, flood risk assessment, drainage infrastructure and water-related development. The role will involve applying engineering principles, interpreting technical information and contributing to solutions that are safe, sustainable and compliant with relevant standards and regulations.
Key responsibilities
- Assist with hydrological and hydraulic assessments, flood risk studies and drainage strategies.
- Prepare technical calculations, reports, drawings, specifications and other project documentation.
- Support the development of designs for surface water drainage, attenuation systems, culverts, channels and related infrastructure.
- Use appropriate engineering software and data analysis tools to interpret information and develop solutions.
- Undertake site visits, surveys and inspections, recording findings accurately and professionally.
- Coordinate with colleagues, clients, contractors and other project stakeholders as required.
- Contribute to project planning, cost estimates, risk assessments and quality assurance processes.
- Maintain clear records and work in accordance with health and safety, environmental and professional requirements.
About you
You will hold, or be working towards, a degree or equivalent qualification in civil engineering, water engineering, environmental engineering or a related discipline. A developing understanding of hydrology, hydraulics, drainage design or flood risk management would be advantageous.
We are looking for someone with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, good written and verbal communication, and a genuine interest in developing a career in water resources. You should be organised, able to manage competing priorities and comfortable working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Familiarity with AutoCAD, GIS, hydraulic modelling software or other technical applications would be beneficial, although training will be provided.
This role offers structured professional development, practical project exposure and the opportunity to work towards relevant professional accreditation.
