Associate Water Resources Engineer
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Associate Water Resources Engineer to join a collaborative technical team delivering high-quality solutions across a varied portfolio of water, drainage and flood risk projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional looking to develop their career while contributing to sustainable and resilient infrastructure.
You will support the planning, design and delivery of projects from initial feasibility through to construction and completion. Working closely with engineers, planners, environmental specialists, clients and contractors, you will help develop practical solutions that meet technical, environmental and regulatory requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Undertake hydrological and hydraulic assessments, including flood risk, drainage and surface water management studies.
- Prepare technical reports, calculations, specifications, drawings and schedules.
- Develop and review drainage strategies, flood alleviation proposals and water management schemes.
- Use industry-standard modelling and design software to analyse and interpret data.
- Support project managers with programming, fee preparation, risk management and progress reporting.
- Attend site visits, surveys and meetings with clients, stakeholders and contractors.
- Provide technical guidance to junior colleagues and contribute to knowledge-sharing across the team.
- Ensure all work complies with relevant legislation, standards, quality procedures and health and safety requirements.
About you
You will hold a degree in civil engineering, water engineering, environmental engineering or a related discipline, ideally with relevant professional experience in water resources, flood risk management or drainage design. Experience with hydraulic modelling packages such as Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, InfoWorks ICM or similar would be advantageous.
We are looking for someone with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent written and verbal communication, and the ability to manage competing priorities. You should be comfortable working independently while contributing positively to multidisciplinary teams. Progress towards professional registration, or a commitment to achieving it, is desirable.
In return, you can expect varied technical work, structured professional development and the opportunity to help shape sustainable solutions for communities and the environment.
