Project Engineer - Water/Wastewater

We are seeking a Project Engineer specialising in water and wastewater infrastructure to support the delivery of complex civil, environmental and utility projects. This role will suit an experienced engineer who can combine strong technical knowledge with effective project coordination, stakeholder communication and commercial awareness. You will contribute to projects from feasibility and design through procurement, construction, commissioning and handover, helping to deliver safe, compliant and sustainable outcomes.

Your responsibilities will include preparing and reviewing technical specifications, drawings, calculations, reports and scopes of work; coordinating multidisciplinary design activities; monitoring programme, cost, quality and risk performance; and supporting the management of contractors, consultants and suppliers. You will attend site visits and progress meetings, assess technical submissions, resolve construction issues and ensure works are delivered in accordance with approved designs, relevant standards, environmental requirements and health and safety procedures. The role may also involve assisting with tender documentation, procurement processes, change control, cost forecasting, project reporting and commissioning activities.

Applicants should hold a degree or equivalent qualification in civil, environmental, water engineering or a related discipline, together with relevant experience delivering water, wastewater, treatment, pumping, pipeline or associated infrastructure projects. A sound understanding of engineering principles, construction practices, contract administration and applicable legislation is essential. Experience using design, project management or document-control software will be advantageous, as will familiarity with common industry contracts and regulatory requirements. You will need strong analytical, organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work collaboratively with technical and non-technical stakeholders. A proactive approach, attention to detail and commitment to safety, quality and environmental performance are essential. Professional registration or progress toward professional accreditation is desirable, along with a valid driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites when required.
