Heavy Civil Project Engineer
We are seeking a Heavy Civil Project Engineer to support the successful delivery of major infrastructure and civil construction projects. This role will suit an engineering professional with strong technical knowledge, commercial awareness, and the ability to coordinate multiple workstreams in a demanding project environment. You will work closely with project managers, site teams, subcontractors, consultants, and suppliers to ensure work is delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved designs, specifications, programmes, and quality standards.
Key responsibilities will include reviewing drawings, specifications, and construction methodologies; assisting with project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and cost control; coordinating engineering activities across site and office teams; and monitoring progress against milestones. You will prepare and maintain technical documentation, inspection and test plans, work packages, technical submissions, progress reports, and records of changes. The role will also involve supporting procurement and subcontractor management, reviewing applications and quantities, resolving technical queries, identifying design and construction risks, and contributing to value engineering and constructability reviews. You will help ensure that all works comply with relevant legislation, project requirements, environmental controls, and health and safety procedures.
Applicants should hold a degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related discipline, together with experience in heavy civil construction, infrastructure, earthworks, utilities, structures, roads, marine works, or similar projects. Membership of a recognised professional engineering body, or progress toward professional accreditation, is advantageous. You should be confident interpreting engineering drawings and technical information, using project management or document control systems, and working with common engineering software and Microsoft Office applications. Strong communication, organisation, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills are essential, along with a proactive approach and the ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a multidisciplinary team. A commitment to safety, quality, integrity, and continuous improvement is expected.
