Heavy Civil Foreman - Water & Wastewater

We are seeking an experienced Heavy Civil Foreman specialising in water and wastewater construction to lead site operations on major infrastructure projects. This role is responsible for coordinating daily activities, supervising crews and subcontractors, and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards. Projects may include the installation, maintenance and rehabilitation of water mains, sewer systems, pump stations, treatment facilities, concrete structures and associated civil works.

Key responsibilities include interpreting drawings, specifications and method statements; planning labour, plant, materials and deliveries; allocating tasks and monitoring progress against programme targets. You will oversee excavation, trenching, shoring, pipe installation, backfilling, compaction, concrete works and site restoration, while identifying and resolving construction issues as they arise. The Foreman will conduct toolbox talks, enforce safe working practices, inspect completed work, maintain accurate site records and liaise regularly with project managers, engineers, inspectors and utility representatives. You will also support quality assurance, environmental compliance and the effective control of costs, resources and productivity.

The successful candidate will have several years of supervisory experience in heavy civil construction, with a strong background in water, wastewater or underground utilities. A sound understanding of construction methods, utility coordination, health and safety requirements and quality control procedures is essential. The ability to read and interpret civil drawings, set out work and use basic digital reporting systems will be highly valued. Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills are required, along with the ability to motivate a diverse site team and maintain high standards in demanding conditions. Relevant trade, civil construction or supervisory qualifications are advantageous. A valid driving licence and flexibility to work across active project sites may also be required.
