Project Engineer - Heavy Civil Construction

We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to support the successful delivery of major heavy civil construction projects. This role will suit a technically capable and organised professional who can coordinate engineering activities, manage project information and contribute to the delivery of safe, efficient and high-quality outcomes. You will work closely with project managers, site supervisors, subcontractors, consultants and clients across all stages of construction.

Your responsibilities will include reviewing drawings, specifications and technical documentation; coordinating design information and resolving construction issues; preparing and maintaining construction methodologies, inspection and test plans, schedules and progress reports; and monitoring project performance against programme, budget, quality and safety requirements. You will assist with procurement, subcontractor coordination, quantity tracking, cost forecasting and variation management, while ensuring records, approvals and reporting are accurate and up to date. The role will also involve conducting site inspections, supporting quality assurance activities, identifying risks and contributing to practical solutions that minimise delays and rework.

Applicants should hold a degree or diploma in civil engineering, construction management or a related discipline, together with demonstrated experience in heavy civil infrastructure or major construction projects. Experience across earthworks, roads, bridges, utilities, structures or related civil works will be highly regarded. You will need strong knowledge of construction methods, contract documentation, quality systems and workplace health and safety requirements, along with the ability to interpret technical drawings and use project management and document control systems. Excellent communication, planning and problem-solving skills are essential, as is the ability to build effective relationships and work productively in a fast-paced site environment. A proactive approach, strong attention to detail and commitment to achieving project objectives will be key to success in this position.
