Water Resources Project Manager

You will be responsible for managing projects from feasibility and concept development through to construction, completion, and post-project review.

Key responsibilities include defining project scope, objectives, programmes, budgets, and delivery strategies; coordinating multidisciplinary design and technical teams; appointing and managing consultants and contractors; and ensuring that work is delivered safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standards. You will monitor progress, costs, risks, and dependencies, providing clear reports and recommendations to senior stakeholders. The role will also involve securing approvals and permits, supporting procurement and contract management, maintaining accurate project records, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, environmental standards, health and safety requirements, and industry guidance.

The successful candidate will have proven experience managing water resources, civil engineering, environmental, or infrastructure projects, with a strong understanding of project governance, risk management, cost control, and programme delivery. A degree or equivalent qualification in water management, civil engineering, environmental science, or a related discipline is desirable, together with relevant professional accreditation or demonstrable progress towards it. You should be confident working with clients, regulators, communities, consultants, contractors, and internal teams, and be able to communicate complex information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. Strong organisational, analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills are essential, along with a practical commitment to sustainability, collaboration, and delivering positive outcomes for communities and the environment.
