We are seeking a Water/Wastewater Design Engineer to contribute to the planning, design and delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects. This role will involve working across a range of schemes, including water treatment, wastewater treatment, pumping stations, pipelines, sewer networks, reservoirs and associated civil infrastructure. You will support projects from feasibility and concept development through to detailed design, construction and commissioning, while ensuring that all work meets applicable technical, environmental, safety and regulatory standards.

Your responsibilities will include preparing calculations, specifications, drawings, schedules, design reports and technical documentation; developing hydraulic and process designs; reviewing surveys, site information and existing asset data; and coordinating interfaces between civil, structural, mechanical, electrical and environmental disciplines. You will liaise with clients, contractors, suppliers, statutory authorities and other project stakeholders, attend site visits and design reviews, and provide technical support during construction. You may also be required to assist with cost estimates, programmes, risk assessments, tender documentation and the resolution of technical queries. Maintaining accurate project records and contributing to continuous improvement in design standards and delivery methods will also be important.

The successful candidate will have a degree or equivalent qualification in civil, environmental, water engineering or a related discipline, together with relevant experience in the design of water or wastewater assets. Experience with hydraulic modelling, process calculations, design software and industry standards is desirable, as is familiarity with current health, safety and environmental legislation. You should be able to interpret technical information, identify practical and cost-effective solutions, and communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. A proactive, organised approach and the ability to manage priorities while working independently or as part of a multidisciplinary team are essential. Professional registration or progress towards professional accreditation would be advantageous.
