Structural Drafter, Roads & Highways

We are seeking a skilled Structural Drafter, Roads & Highways, to support the delivery of infrastructure projects from concept through to construction. The successful candidate will prepare accurate, detailed structural drawings and documentation for bridges, retaining walls, culverts, drainage structures, road structures and associated civil works. Working closely with engineers, designers and project teams, you will help ensure that drawing packages meet technical, safety, quality and project requirements.

Key responsibilities will include producing and revising plans, elevations, sections, reinforcement details, fabrication drawings and construction documentation using relevant computer-aided design and building information modelling software. You will interpret engineering calculations, survey information, specifications and design mark-ups, while maintaining drawing registers, document controls and revision histories. The role will also involve coordinating drawings with civil, geotechnical, utilities and other disciplines; identifying clashes or inconsistencies; incorporating review comments; and assisting with the preparation of quantities, schedules and technical reports where required. Occasional site visits may be needed to verify existing conditions and support construction teams.

Applicants should have proven experience drafting structural or civil infrastructure projects, ideally within roads, highways, bridges or related heavy civil works. Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D is expected, with experience using Revit, Tekla or other structural modelling platforms considered advantageous. You should be able to read and understand engineering drawings, standards and technical specifications, and demonstrate a strong understanding of drafting conventions, materials, reinforcement detailing and constructability. A relevant qualification in drafting, civil engineering technology or a related discipline is desirable. Strong attention to detail, sound organisational skills, clear communication and the ability to manage multiple deadlines are essential. A proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to technical accuracy will be highly valued.
