We are seeking an experienced Interface Engineer to support the delivery and integration of third-party systems across a complex technical environment. You will be responsible for defining, developing and managing interfaces between internal platforms, suppliers and external stakeholders, ensuring that data is exchanged accurately, securely and in line with agreed technical and operational standards. The role will involve working across the full interface lifecycle, from requirements gathering and solution design through to testing, deployment and ongoing support.

Your responsibilities will include producing interface specifications, data mappings, technical documentation and implementation plans; reviewing supplier designs and deliverables; and coordinating interface activities across engineering, project, operational and commercial teams. You will investigate incidents, diagnose integration issues and oversee corrective actions, working collaboratively with third parties to resolve problems within agreed timescales. You will also contribute to integration testing, system assurance, change control, configuration management and readiness reviews, ensuring that new or amended interfaces are robust and fully traceable.

You will have proven experience in systems integration, interface engineering or a closely related discipline, ideally within a safety-critical, transport, infrastructure or similarly complex environment. A strong understanding of integration architectures, APIs, messaging protocols, databases and structured data formats is required, together with experience of testing tools and technical documentation. You should be comfortable interpreting requirements, assessing technical risks and managing dependencies with external suppliers. Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills are essential, as is the ability to work methodically, prioritise competing demands and explain complex technical matters clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. Experience of relevant engineering standards, assurance processes, cyber security principles and controlled change environments would be advantageous.
