Senior Traffic Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Traffic Engineer to lead the delivery of complex transport and traffic engineering projects across a diverse range of urban development, infrastructure, and strategic planning initiatives. This role will involve applying strong technical expertise, sound judgement, and commercial awareness to develop practical solutions that improve safety, network efficiency, accessibility, and the overall movement of people and goods.

You will manage projects from inception through to completion, preparing and reviewing traffic impact assessments, transport assessments, intersection and corridor analyses, parking studies, access strategies, traffic management plans, and network modelling outputs. You will interpret relevant legislation, standards, and guidelines, coordinate technical investigations, and provide clear recommendations to clients, stakeholders, and approval authorities. The role will also involve mentoring junior engineers, reviewing technical reports and designs, contributing to business development, preparing fee proposals, and supporting project programming, budgeting, and risk management.

The successful candidate will hold a relevant tertiary qualification in civil engineering, transport engineering, or a related discipline, together with substantial professional experience in traffic or transport engineering. Strong knowledge of traffic modelling, road safety principles, intersection analysis, transport planning, and applicable design standards is required. Experience using industry software such as SIDRA, VISSIM, AIMSUN, or equivalent tools will be highly regarded. You will be an effective communicator who can build productive relationships, present technical information to varied audiences, and work confidently both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Professional registration or eligibility for registration, along with a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to high-quality outcomes, will be advantageous.
