Project Engineer - Water/Wastewater

We are seeking a Project Engineer to support the delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects from concept through to completion. This role will involve working closely with project managers, design teams, contractors, suppliers and client representatives to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time and within budget. You will contribute to a varied portfolio of schemes involving treatment works, pumping stations, pipelines, reservoirs and associated civil, mechanical, electrical and process engineering elements.

Key responsibilities will include assisting with project planning, design coordination, technical reviews, procurement, construction support and commissioning activities. You will review drawings, specifications, risk assessments and method statements, identify technical issues and help develop practical solutions. The successful candidate will monitor progress against programme and budget, maintain accurate project records, support change control and contribute to cost forecasting and reporting. You will also attend site meetings, liaise with stakeholders and contractors, and promote high standards of health, safety, quality and environmental performance throughout project delivery.

Applicants should hold a degree or equivalent qualification in civil, mechanical, electrical, environmental or process engineering, together with relevant experience in the water, wastewater, utilities or wider infrastructure sector. A strong understanding of engineering principles, construction practices, contract administration and health and safety requirements is essential. Experience working on water or wastewater treatment and network projects would be advantageous. You should be organised, commercially aware and confident communicating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. The ability to manage competing priorities, work collaboratively and produce clear technical documentation is also required. Professional registration, or a willingness to work towards it, would be beneficial.
