Project Engineer/Field Engineer
We are seeking a Project Engineer/Field Engineer to support the successful delivery of engineering projects from planning and design through to installation, commissioning and handover. This is a varied role combining office-based coordination with regular site attendance, making it ideal for an adaptable engineer who enjoys working across technical, operational and client-facing activities. You will work closely with project managers, designers, subcontractors, suppliers and customers to ensure work is delivered safely, efficiently, on time and to the required quality standards.
Your responsibilities will include reviewing drawings, specifications and project documentation; assisting with programme planning, cost control and resource coordination; preparing technical reports, method statements, risk assessments and progress updates; and monitoring site activities to confirm compliance with approved designs, standards and contract requirements. You will help identify and resolve technical issues, manage variations and queries, coordinate materials and equipment, and support testing, commissioning and final handover. Regular site visits will be required, including inspections and meetings with clients and delivery teams. You will also promote a strong safety culture and ensure that accurate records are maintained throughout each project.
Applicants should hold a relevant engineering qualification or equivalent practical experience, with previous experience in project engineering, site engineering, construction, manufacturing, infrastructure or a related technical environment. A sound understanding of engineering principles, project controls, health and safety requirements and quality procedures is essential. You should be confident interpreting technical drawings and using standard Microsoft Office applications; experience with engineering, project management or document control software would be beneficial. Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills are required, together with the ability to manage competing priorities and work independently. A full driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites may be necessary. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to technically challenging projects while developing broader commercial, operational and leadership experience.
