Rolling Stock Product Introduction Manager
We are seeking an experienced Rolling Stock Product Introduction Manager to lead the safe, efficient and timely introduction of new and modified rolling stock into operational service. This role will coordinate activities across engineering, manufacturing, testing, assurance, operations, maintenance, supply chain and external stakeholders, ensuring that vehicles are delivered in accordance with approved requirements, regulatory obligations, customer expectations and programme milestones.
You will develop and manage product introduction plans, governance arrangements, readiness reviews, risk registers and issue-resolution processes. Responsibilities will include coordinating design and configuration changes, overseeing factory acceptance, testing and commissioning activities, managing trial operations, and ensuring that technical and operational documentation is complete and controlled. You will also support the preparation of safety justifications, approvals, maintenance strategies, training materials, spares requirements and handover arrangements. Working closely with project and operational teams, you will identify dependencies, monitor progress, provide clear management reporting and drive corrective actions where required. The role may involve regular travel to engineering, manufacturing, depot and operational locations.
The successful candidate will have substantial experience in rolling stock, rail engineering, fleet introduction, vehicle modification or a closely related transport environment. You will understand the full product lifecycle and be confident working with systems engineering, configuration management, verification and validation, safety assurance and railway standards. Strong programme or project management skills are essential, together with the ability to manage competing priorities, influence stakeholders and communicate effectively at all levels. Experience of leading cross-functional teams and working with suppliers, operators, maintainers, assessors and regulatory bodies is highly desirable. A relevant technical, engineering or project management qualification, or equivalent practical experience, would be advantageous. You should be organised, analytical and commercially aware, with a proactive approach to risk management and a strong commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.
