Rolling Stock Preventive Maintenance Supervisor

We are seeking a Rolling Stock Preventive Maintenance Supervisor to lead and coordinate planned maintenance activities across a fleet of passenger or service vehicles. The successful candidate will ensure that rolling stock is maintained safely, reliably and efficiently, while meeting all applicable technical, operational and regulatory standards. This role will involve supervising maintenance teams, allocating resources and monitoring work quality to support high fleet availability and dependable service performance.

Key responsibilities will include planning and scheduling preventive maintenance inspections, servicing and component replacements; reviewing work orders, maintenance plans and technical documentation; and ensuring tasks are completed within agreed timeframes. You will supervise daily activities in the depot or workshop, provide technical guidance to technicians, and coordinate with operations, engineering, stores and external contractors where required. The role will also involve investigating recurring faults, supporting corrective action, monitoring fleet condition and ensuring accurate completion of maintenance records and computerised maintenance management system updates.

Applicants should have substantial experience in rolling stock, rail vehicle, heavy vehicle, mechanical, electrical or a closely related maintenance environment, together with previous supervisory or team-lead experience. A relevant technical qualification, trade certification or engineering background is desirable. You will need a strong understanding of preventive maintenance principles, fault diagnosis, safety procedures, quality systems and compliance requirements. Excellent organisational, communication and problem-solving skills are essential, as is the ability to prioritise work in a time-critical operational setting. The successful candidate will demonstrate a proactive approach, attention to detail and a commitment to developing teams, improving maintenance performance and maintaining a safe, professional workplace. A willingness to work shifts, weekends or public holidays may be required depending on operational needs.
