Project Manager (PMC - Roads & Highways)
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of major roads and highways programmes from planning and design through construction, commissioning and close-out. The role will involve providing professional management consultancy support to the client, coordinating multidisciplinary teams and ensuring that projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of project strategies, implementation plans, procurement approaches, budgets and delivery schedules.
Key responsibilities will include managing consultants, contractors and other stakeholders; reviewing designs, specifications, method statements, programmes and technical submissions; monitoring progress against approved cost, time and quality baselines; and identifying, assessing and mitigating project risks. You will oversee contract administration, change control, payment certification, claims, reporting and compliance with applicable contractual, statutory, environmental, health and safety requirements. The role will also require regular site visits, coordination of progress meetings, resolution of technical and commercial issues, preparation of management reports and maintenance of accurate project records. You will promote effective communication between all parties and support continuous improvement across the project lifecycle.
Applicants should hold a degree in civil engineering, construction management, project management or a related discipline, with substantial experience managing road, highway, bridge or associated infrastructure projects. Professional registration or membership of a recognised engineering or project management body is desirable. You should have strong knowledge of infrastructure delivery, construction contracts, project controls, cost management, risk management and quality assurance, together with experience working in a consultancy, client-side or programme management environment. Excellent leadership, negotiation, communication and problem-solving skills are essential, as is the ability to manage competing priorities and make sound decisions under pressure. Proficiency with project management, scheduling and reporting software, along with a willingness to travel to project and site locations, is also required.
