Field Superintendent
We are seeking an experienced Field Superintendent to oversee day-to-day construction activities and ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the required standards. This role will provide on-site leadership across one or more active projects, coordinating employees, subcontractors, suppliers, equipment, and materials. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a productive work environment while ensuring work is completed in accordance with approved plans, specifications, schedules, budgets, and applicable legislation.
Key responsibilities include planning and supervising field operations, assigning tasks, monitoring progress, and coordinating activities with project managers, engineers, inspectors, and other stakeholders. You will review drawings and specifications, identify potential issues, resolve site-level challenges, and support the implementation of corrective actions. The Field Superintendent will conduct regular site inspections, maintain accurate daily reports, track labour and equipment requirements, and help manage changes, delays, quality concerns, and project documentation. A strong focus on health and safety is essential, including enforcing site policies, leading toolbox meetings, identifying hazards, investigating incidents, and ensuring all personnel follow safe work practices. You will also help maintain positive relationships with clients, subcontractors, trades, and members of the public.
Applicants should have several years of progressive experience supervising construction or field operations, with demonstrated knowledge of construction methods, scheduling, quality control, and site coordination. Experience managing multiple crews and subcontractors in a fast-paced environment is preferred. The role requires strong communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to read and interpret technical drawings and project documents. Proficiency with standard reporting and scheduling software is an asset. A relevant trade qualification, technical diploma, or equivalent practical experience is preferred. A valid driver’s licence and the ability to travel to project sites may be required. The successful candidate will be dependable, safety-conscious, and capable of making sound decisions while maintaining high standards of workmanship and professionalism.
