Senior Project Superintendent – Commercial Construction

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Superintendent to lead the field execution of complex commercial construction projects from mobilisation through completion. This role is responsible for establishing safe, efficient, and well-organised site operations while ensuring work is delivered in accordance with approved plans, specifications, schedules, budgets, and quality standards. The successful candidate will provide visible leadership on site, coordinate multiple trades and subcontractors, and maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants, project managers, suppliers, and site personnel.

Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining short- and long-term construction schedules; coordinating site logistics, sequencing, access, and resource requirements; reviewing drawings, specifications, and contract documents; and identifying potential design, procurement, and constructability issues before they affect progress. You will chair site coordination meetings, monitor subcontractor performance, verify completed work, manage inspections and testing, and support the resolution of technical queries, variations, and field conflicts. The role also requires accurate daily reporting, progress tracking, documentation control, and regular communication with project leadership regarding risks, milestones, costs, and forecast completion dates. You will actively promote a positive site culture focused on safety, accountability, teamwork, and quality.

Applicants should bring substantial experience supervising commercial construction projects, with a proven record of managing major builds, complex renovations, or similarly demanding developments. Strong knowledge of construction methods, building codes, health and safety requirements, quality assurance processes, and project scheduling is essential. The ability to interpret construction documents, use project management and scheduling software, and make sound decisions under pressure is highly valued. You should be an organised, proactive communicator who can lead by example, resolve issues promptly, and motivate teams to achieve exceptional results. Relevant trade, technical, or construction management qualifications are advantageous, as is experience working on projects involving multiple stakeholders, tight deadlines, and high-quality finishes.
