Assistant Superintendent
We are seeking an experienced and collaborative Assistant Superintendent to provide strategic leadership across instructional programs, school operations, and districtwide initiatives. Reporting to the Superintendent, the successful candidate will help advance educational excellence, equity, student achievement, and continuous improvement. This role will work closely with principals, teachers, support staff, families, community partners, and governing bodies to ensure that schools deliver high-quality learning experiences and maintain a positive, inclusive environment for every student.
Key responsibilities include supporting the development and implementation of district goals, policies, and improvement plans; supervising and evaluating school leaders; monitoring academic performance and student outcomes; and using data to identify priorities, allocate resources, and guide targeted interventions. The Assistant Superintendent will provide leadership in curriculum and instruction, professional learning, assessment, student services, compliance, and school improvement, as assigned. Additional duties may include coordinating accreditation or accountability requirements, supporting budget and staffing decisions, responding to complex operational or personnel matters, and representing the district at meetings, public events, and community forums.
Candidates should hold a master’s degree in education, educational leadership, public administration, or a related field, along with appropriate administrative certification or eligibility. Significant experience in school leadership, instructional improvement, and managing complex educational programs is required; central-office or multi-school leadership experience is highly desirable. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong knowledge of curriculum, assessment, school improvement, applicable regulations, and effective change management. Excellent communication, relationship-building, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills are essential, as is the ability to lead with integrity, discretion, cultural responsiveness, and a clear commitment to student success. Experience managing budgets, developing staff, engaging stakeholders, and fostering equitable outcomes will be valued.
