Field Operations Manager/Assistant Superintendent

We are seeking a Field Operations Manager/Assistant Superintendent to oversee the safe, efficient and high-quality delivery of field-based projects. This role will coordinate daily operations, supervise site activities and ensure work is completed in accordance with approved plans, schedules, budgets and applicable regulations. The successful candidate will be a practical, organised leader who can communicate effectively with crews, subcontractors, suppliers, clients and project stakeholders.

Key responsibilities will include planning and coordinating field resources, monitoring progress and productivity, allocating labour and equipment, and maintaining accurate daily records. You will support project scheduling, review drawings and specifications, identify potential issues, and help implement timely solutions. The role will also involve coordinating subcontractors, inspecting completed work, managing materials and deliveries, and ensuring quality standards are consistently met. You will promote a strong safety culture by conducting site inspections, leading toolbox meetings, enforcing safe work practices and reporting incidents or hazards as required. Regular communication with project management will be essential, including updates on progress, costs, risks, variations and resource requirements.

Applicants should have experience in field operations, construction, infrastructure, civil works or a related environment, with previous supervisory or site coordination experience preferred. A relevant trade qualification, technical certificate or equivalent practical experience will be highly regarded. You will need strong organisational and problem-solving skills, sound commercial awareness and the ability to read plans, schedules and technical documentation. Proficiency with standard computer applications and project or field management systems is desirable. A current driver’s licence and the ability to travel to active work sites are required. Above all, you will demonstrate integrity, accountability, initiative and a collaborative approach, with the confidence to make sound decisions in a fast-paced operational environment.
