Assistant Superintendent
We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Assistant Superintendent to support the effective leadership, administration, and continuous improvement of a school district. Working closely with the Superintendent, senior leaders, school administrators, staff, students, families, and community partners, you will help advance district priorities and ensure that all schools provide safe, inclusive, and high-quality learning environments. The successful candidate will demonstrate sound educational leadership, strong judgement, and a commitment to equitable outcomes for every student.
Key responsibilities include supporting the development and implementation of district policies, strategic plans, improvement initiatives, and operational procedures. You will provide guidance and supervision to school leaders, monitor educational programs and student achievement, and use data to identify priorities and evaluate progress. The role will also involve contributing to staffing, professional learning, resource allocation, compliance, budget planning, and the resolution of complex operational or personnel matters. You may be required to represent the district at meetings, build productive relationships with external stakeholders, and communicate clearly with employees, families, governing bodies, and the wider community.
Applicants should hold a relevant postgraduate qualification in education, educational leadership, public administration, or a related field, together with substantial leadership experience in a school or education setting. A proven record of improving teaching, learning, student wellbeing, and organisational performance is essential. You will need excellent communication, consultation, project management, and analytical skills, as well as the ability to manage competing priorities and make informed decisions in a changing environment. Experience leading system-wide initiatives, managing budgets, supporting staff development, and working within legislative and regulatory frameworks will be highly valued. The successful candidate will be collaborative, ethical, resilient, and committed to fostering a culture of accountability, inclusion, innovation, and continuous improvement.
