Energy Storage Operator I
We are seeking an Energy Storage Operator I to support the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of utility-scale battery energy storage systems. In this entry-level role, you will monitor system performance, respond to operating conditions, and help maintain equipment availability in accordance with established procedures, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. You will work as part of an operations team and may coordinate with maintenance personnel, control room staff, contractors, and external grid partners.
Responsibilities include monitoring battery management systems, energy management systems, alarms, telemetry, and site conditions; performing routine inspections and operational checks; recording meter readings and equipment status; and identifying abnormal conditions or potential hazards. You will assist with system start-up, shutdown, charging, discharging, isolation, and switching activities as directed. The role also involves promptly escalating equipment faults, safety concerns, environmental issues, and performance deviations; supporting troubleshooting and corrective actions; maintaining accurate shift logs and work records; and following lockout/tagout, emergency response, communications, and incident-reporting procedures.
Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent and an interest in electrical, mechanical, industrial, renewable energy, or power-generation operations. Previous experience in a control room, industrial facility, power plant, manufacturing environment, or technical operations setting is beneficial but may not be required. You should be comfortable using computers and monitoring software, interpreting basic technical information, following detailed written and verbal instructions, and making sound decisions during changing operating conditions. Strong communication, teamwork, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety are essential. The position may require rotating shifts, nights, weekends, holidays, outdoor work, and the ability to wear required personal protective equipment. Successful candidates must be capable of working around electrical equipment and battery systems and meeting applicable physical and background-screening requirements.
