We are seeking a Project Engineer to support the delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects across the utilities sector. This role will contribute to the planning, design, coordination and successful execution of projects from concept through to completion. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, contractors, clients and regulatory stakeholders to ensure solutions are technically sound, compliant, cost-effective and delivered to programme.

Key responsibilities include preparing and reviewing engineering designs, calculations, specifications, drawings and technical reports; coordinating multidisciplinary design activities; supporting the development of project scopes, schedules, budgets and risk registers; and monitoring progress against agreed objectives. You will assist with procurement and contractor management, review technical submissions, respond to design queries, attend site meetings and inspections, and help resolve construction issues. The role will also involve maintaining accurate project records, contributing to design reviews and quality assurance processes, supporting commissioning and handover activities, and ensuring health, safety, environmental and regulatory requirements are embedded throughout project delivery.

Applicants should hold a degree or equivalent qualification in civil, environmental, water, wastewater or a related engineering discipline, with relevant experience delivering or supporting utilities infrastructure projects. Experience in water treatment, wastewater treatment, networks, pumping stations, pipelines or associated civil works would be advantageous. You should have a sound understanding of engineering principles, design standards, construction methods and applicable legislation, together with the ability to interpret technical drawings and manage competing priorities. Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills are essential, as is the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders. Proficiency with relevant engineering, design, project management or document-control software would be beneficial. Professional registration or progress towards chartered status is desirable.
